How To Recover Your Lost Items From New Delhi IGI (Indira Gandhi International) Airport

If you travel across the world or in your own country and use flights as a medium of transport, some of you must have encountered issue relating to lost items or missing items. It may happen with some as there is a always a rush and hurry to catch a flight or reach airport at the last moment or just lost attention about things you carry like bags, suitcases etc.

If Lost your Laptop, Mobile, Wallet, Cash or any other valuables inside the airport, here is a solution to this and it works almost for sure. Yes that’s right and in airport like DIAL (Delhi International Airport Limited), India, they have a dedicated service department for Lost & Found.

As per Delhi IGI Airport website:

DEFINITION OF LOST PROPERTY

Lost property means any property which while not in proper custody, is found within the premises of the Airport.

PROCEDURE

It is important to return the recovered item(s) to the rightful owner; moreover, claiming your lost items has been made simple and hassle-free by the Delhi Airport. Just follow the given procedure steps to get your items.

PROCEDURE FOR CLAIMING LOST ITEMS

The lost article(s) may be claimed on producing the following documents:-

  1. Copy of Boarding Pass/Card.
  2. Details of the items being claimed.
  3. An authorization letter to be filled and signed by the owner with details of the items being claimed.
  4. Photo ID card of the person who has been authorized to collect the article(s). The authorization may be in the name of any Individual, Courier Service Provider or even Airlines.
  5. Government authorized Photo ID preferably Passport / Driving License / Aadhaar Card / Voter ID Card.

POINTS TO REMEMBER

  • The recovered items may be claimed from respective terminal itself within 05 days from the date / time of deposit. If any item is required to be collected after working hours (17:30 hrs), please make an appointment 48 hrs in advance by mailing to lostproperty.dial@gmrgroup.in
  • All unclaimed ‘lost and found’ merchandise will be retained for a period of 3 months, after which it is handed over to Customs or NGO for a good cause.
  • Perishable, flammable & DGR goods will not be kept for claiming in the Lost & Found section. The unclaimed food items and flammable goods will be disposed-off within 12 hours.

Additional Note: The ‘lost’ article(s) must be claimed within 90 (ninety) days from the date it is found and deposited at the Lost and Found section. Post 90 days, the article(s) may be disposed-off as per company policy. Thereafter, the lost property department shall cease to entertain any claims upon the article(s).
