Blockchain is a digital ledger where transactions are recorded and stored. The blockchain is distributed across a network of computers. It can be used to record transactions for all kinds of things, not just cryptocurrencies.

The first application of blockchain was bitcoin, but today the technology can be used to record transactions for property, stocks and even votes. Blockchain removes the need for a middleman or central authority in these transactions because it is decentralized and secure.

This means that the next time you buy something with your credit card or vote in an election, you might be using blockchain technology without even realizing it!
